When we ask our clients in organizations—executives, first-line supervisors—which set of competences they would most like to develop, all provide the same answer: help us to become more effective leaders. If so many wish to become leaders, why they are in short supply. There are two fundamental reasons for this issue, first most organizational structure doesn’t support leadership. This tends to give rise to conformity and role playing, which inevitably leads to cynicism by the followers. Secondly, our view point or understanding of leadership may be slightly askew. Leadership isn’t something we do to people, it something we do with people. Our core belief is that leadership is Situational, Non- Nonhierarchical and Relational.
